Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, August 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Surfers Healing takes place at The Pier on Thursday. Come support kids with Autism and the crew as they get some surf on Thursday.
Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high and clean. There is a waist set, and it finally looks kind of fun this morning.
Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf-zone is nice and clean, and it looks like there might be potential for a longboard glide as the tide comes in early afternoon. It’s not quite as small as it has been, but it’s not exactly going off, either.
Look for south-west winds at 10 to 12 knots this afternoon. Surf-zone will get some surface chop this afternoon.
Low tide is at 11:33 a.m., and high tide is at 6:07 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.
There looks like a little surf out here this morning compared to what it has been for the past few days. Surf looks pretty small this week, with perhaps a small pulse of lazy south-swell through mid-to-late week. There is some potential for hurricane swells about 8 to 10 days out, but the forecast is allover the place.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will arrive mid week, then stall over or near the area into the weekend. High pressure should then expand across the region early next week.”
Water Temperature is around 83*.
It’s 78* with clouds this morning. We see a high of 82* today with passing clouds and some on-and-off rain/thunderstorms in the area all day.
Sunrise is at 6:46 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:59 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
