Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 15 at 8:30 a.m.

After a fun clean up yesterday afternoon, surf at Folly has dropped overnight to knee-to-thigh high. There is a waist high set. It’s soft at the flooding high tide this morning.

Winds are north at 15 to 20 knots. Surf is side-shore, semi-clean and drifty.

Look for wind to switch north-east at 20 knots with a higher gust this afternoon. Surf should be choppy and drifty later today.

We are just coming off a high tide, and low tide will be at 2:18 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:15 p.m.

Virtual buoy data is reading 6 ft at 6 seconds in a short-period east/north-east wind swell.

We see building north-east wind swell over the next 24 hours. It will have a higher angle on it, but should provide some drifty surf this afternoon and into Wednesday. Winds go off-shore Wednesday afternoon, and surf should clean up some as it begins to drop off later in the day. Surf looks smaller for late week and into the weekend as high pressure returns.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will pass to our north today while a trough develops along the coast. A storm system will bring impacts to our area late tonight night into Wednesday. High pressure returns for the latter half of the week.”

It’s 49* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 53* and clouds with rain showers this afternoon.

Water temperature has dropped to 58*.

Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:14 p.m.
