Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly this morning is averaging thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set in an south wind swell/ground swell combo. It is super foggy out here, so it’s hard to even see all the way out to the surf zone, but that should clear up later this morning.

Winds are south-westerly at 10 knots, and surf has bump and cross in it, but not much current yet this morning.

Look for winds to increase south-westerly through the day at 15 to 20 knots ahead of a cold front, with choppy, drifty surf increasing in size this afternoon.

High tide will be at 11:29 a.m., and the day’s next low tide will be at 5:55 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 10 seconds in aa long period east/south-east ground swell. With a south/south-east wind swell reading 3.3 ft at 6 seconds.

We see building, choppy south wind-swell into the waist-to-chest high range ahead of an approaching cold front today, with strong south-west winds ahead of a cold front. This wind swell fades quickly and cleans up early Wednesday morning after a cold front passage. Long-range is hinting of a potential low developing off our coast late Friday into Saturday and Sunday producing bigger easterly ground-swell, but it’ll likely be windy. We will keep you posted.

It is a warm 66* with clouds and lots of fog this morning. Look for a high of 69* with mostly cloudy skies and thunderstorms later this afternoon.

Water temperature is now 57*

Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:15 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
