Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 8:30 a.m.

We hope everyone has a great holiday season. We will close at 2 p.m. today on Christmas Eve.  Come get your last minute shopping done early.

Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-chest high with a shoulder high set. It’s soft at the morning’s high tide, but should get better form as the tide drops out.

Winds are north – side-shore – at 15 to 20 knots, and surf is semi-clean and drifty down the beach from north-to-south.

Look for winds to continue north today and drop off a bit this afternoon around 10 to 15 knots.

We have a low tide at 12:20 p.m. and high tide will follow at 6:18 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 12 ft. at 9 seconds in a BIG east/south-east ground swell. Merry Christmas, from the Edisto Buoy.

Look for side-shore, semi-clean, drifty surf today averaging waist-to-chest high as the low pressure that’s kicked up all of this swell moves to our south and east with prevailing northerly winds. Looking to late work week high pressure pushes offshore and could see a smaller trade swell with cleaner, warmer conditions. Thursday might end up being a smaller, but more manageable day with nice weather. We see another front approaching our waters late in the weekend, pushing in another pre-frontal south wind swell Sunday. Either way tons of surf this entire week of Christmas, just keep your eyes on winds.

We have a coastal flood warning in effect, and there’s a lot of areas on Folly Road that are flooded, but most are passable. It’s 59* and cloudy. Look for a high of 67* and some sun later this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 55*. You’ll be most comfortable in a 4/3, booties, gloves and a hood.

Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:18 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
