Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 28 at 8:30 a.m.
We’re open for regular business hours this week. 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. We will close at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and be closed New Year’s Day.
Surf at The Washout this morning is ankle-to-knee-high.
Winds are south-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is semi-choppy.
Look for winds from the south-west at 10 knots. Increasing 10 to 15 knots mid-afternoon. We see a choppy surf zone today with minimal surf.
We have a low tide at report time this morning, and high tide will be at 2:23 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:44 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 5 seconds in a short-period south-west wind wave.
Small surf to start the New Year’s work week. It’s semi-choppy, and it looks to fall off as the tide goes out late this afternoon. Surf should begin to pick up again starting Wednesday in another short-period south-west wind swell as a series of disturbances approach our marine area late in the week. There should be some small south wind chop to ride Wednesday and Thursday with poor form. We could see a bigger swell Sunday ahead of a cold front as winds pick up strong from the south/south-west and push in some chest to head high south wind chop.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through Wednesday. A series of disturbances will affect the area Thursday through Saturday. A strong cold front will move through the offshore early next week.”
It’s warm and cloudy this morning. It’s 63*. Look for a nice winter beach day with a high of 69* and partly cloudy skies this afternoon.
Water Temperature is hovering around 58*. s
Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:22 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
