Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 31 – New Year’s Eve – at 8:30 a.m.

Happy New Year. Thank you for all your patronage in 2019. We can’t do it without you! It was a great year for waves. We look forward to surfing with you in 2020.

We will close at 2 p.m. today for New Year’s Eve, and we’ll be closed on New Years Day. There will not be a surf report tomorrow, due to small surf.

The Folly Beach Flip Flop Drop takes place at the River Front Park from 10 p.m. to midnight. The Polar Bear Plunge will take place in front of the Tides hotel at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Come usher in the New Year at Folly Beach.

We have marked all of our shorts and board-shorts at 50% off, and we have a  pretty good selection, so come check it out.

Surf at Folly this morning is ankle-to-knee high.

Winds are west at 10 knots, and surf-zone is side-shore, but fairly clean. We see westerly winds continue at 15 knots today, blowing down the surf.

We have a high tide at 11:33 a.m., and a low tide at 5:28 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.9 ft. at 5 seconds in a westerly wind swell blowing away from the beach.

We see smaller leftovers for your New Year’s Eve (Tuesday), and New Year’s Day.  So we have small surf through mid-week, before another front approaches and brings another south-wind swell late Thursday into Friday. We’ll be off on New Year’s Day, but will update the report on Thursday.

It’s sunny and 49* today. Look for a high of 62* with sun, and a beautiful day to end a stellar 2019.

Water temperature is up some, it’s 58*.

Sunrise is at 7:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:23 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
