Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 7 at 8:30 a.m.

Come by Ocean and pick up a Christmas gift card for that surfer in your life. Christmas shopping at Ocean is quick and easy, and until Christmas Day you can get a free walk on the beach with each purchase.

Surf at the Washout is knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set. It’s kind of soft at the higher tide, but looks fun for the high volume board considering how flat it’s been for the past two weeks.

Winds are north/north-west at 5 knots, and surf is very clean.

Look for winds to increase slightly from the north-east today at 10 knots, and surf should be semi-choppy later today.

High tide will be at 10:10 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:20 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 ft at 9 seconds in a long-period east/south-easterly swell. With a short-period south/south-west wind swell 2.6 ft at 5 seconds.

There is a little more surf out here than we have had over the past few weeks, averaging thigh high. We have a cold front morning thought on Wednesday. There should be some small easterly swell of varying quality moving in mid-week with winds from the east/north-east building some wind swell late Tuesday, this should continue into Wednesday. Not much size, but likely something small to ride.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cool and cloudy air mass will build over the region today and will gradually erode tonight. A cold front will sweep across the Southeast U.S. on Wednesday. High pressure will briefly linger before another cold front arrives this weekend.”

It’s 62* and partly sunny at the beach. Look for mostly cloudy skies today with temps dropping to 60* and a chance of showers.

Water temperature is 59*.

Sunrise is at 7:08 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
