Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 14 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-high with a RARE thigh set. It’s closing out as the tide goes out this morning.

Winds are north at 10 knots. Surf zone is side-shore but clean with a slight drift north-to-south.

Look for north-east winds at 10 knots making for some bump and texture this afternoon.

Tide will be low at 10:30 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:33 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft at 10 seconds in a long period south-east swell, with a short period north-east wind swell reading 3.6 ft. at 5 seconds.

Not too much in the forecast today, as the first half of the week looks small. There is potential for building surf Wednesday and into the latter half of the work week. North-east winds continue Wednesday, but as high pressure sets up north-east of our marine area, look for flow to become more on-shore, possibly brining some trade wind swell to Folly Thursday and into the weekend. Fingers crossed for some rideable waves late week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Dry high pressure will prevail through much of the week before a cold front arrives over the weekend.”

It’s 56* with sun behind clouds this morning. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 63* and clouds with some sun peaking out.

Water Temperature is hovering around 59*.

Sunrise is at 7:13 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:14 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
