Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 21 at 8:30 a.m.

Come see us for your Christmas shopping needs. We are stocked with boards, including Catch Surf models and longboards. We also have gift cards available. We will be open until 5:30 every evening, closed at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve. We will be closed Christmas Day.

Surf at The Washout this morning waist-to-stomach high in a high-angled east/north-east wind swell.  Surf is almost breaking into the dunes out here with a very high tide this morning with the strong north flow. So, it’s kind of soft.

It’s raw out here with rain and cool temps on your first day of winter.

Winds are strong from the north at 15 to 18. Surf is side-shore and semi-clean with lots of drift down the beach.

Look for north winds at 15 to 20 this afternoon with a drifty, semi-clean, cold surf zone today.

High tide is at 9 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:15 p.m. The next high tide at 9:16 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6 feet at 6 seconds in a short-period east/north-east wind swell.

Low pressure is moving from the south and into our marine area into tonight. We see increasing north-east wind swell and continued north-east winds today with drifty surf averaging waist to chest high. Winds come more off-shore Wednesday morning, when surf cleans up and begins to drop off rapidly. It looks small for late week. Over the weekend there is some small south-west wind waves in the forecast, but nothing to really look forward to.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A coastal storm will impact the region through tonight. High pressure will then bring dry and mild conditions through early next week.”

It’s cold, raw and raining this morning. It’s 43*. Look for a high of 52* and raw weather with rain and wind all day.

Water Temperature is hovering around 58*.

Sunrise is at 7:17 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:18 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
