Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is flat. Looking very weak overall.
Winds are west at 5 knots, and surf zone is textured but pretty clean.
Look for winds to go north-west this afternoon at 10 knots, and surf should be clean all day.
Tide just started coming in, and high tide will be at 2 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:06 p.m.
Virtual buoy data is reading 1.1 ft at 11 seconds in a small east/north-east swell.
High pressure builds into our area through Wednesday, and we should see off-shore flow and small surf. Looking ahead, we see a major front approaching our marine area building south wind swell significantly on Christmas Eve. This will likely fade out over-night Thursday into Christmas morning. Hopefully we can either get a cleanup session late Thursday, but it’s likely going to be pretty windy.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Wednesday. A strong cold front will cross the area late Thursday, followed by cold high pressure through the weekend. Another cold front could move through the region early next week.”
It’s 48* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 61* with sun this afternoon. It looks like a nice beach day.
Water temperature has dropped to 55*.
Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
