Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 16 at 8:30 a.m.

We’ve got wet-suits jackets in the shop for spring. Yes, it’s STILL cold, but come by and get one while they are still available before the weather warms up. Wetsuit gear has been going fast.

Surf at The Washout is waist-to-stomach high with a chest high set. It looks OK as the tide comes in.

Winds are south-west at 15 knots, and surf is side-shore, semi-choppy and very drifty up the beach.

Look for wind to switch hard to the west by afternoon at 15 to 20 knots. This should continue to blow the surf down this afternoon.

High tide is at 10:54 a.m. and we have a low tide at 4:54 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 4.1 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium-period south/south-east swell.

There are some fun, ridable waves this morning as the tide comes in averaging waist-to-chest high with semi-choppy, drifty conditions. Surf looks to gradually fall off this afternoon as winds come hard from the west and the tide falls out. Surf looks smaller for Wednesday, but we see a warm front lift through the area overnight Wednesday and into Thursday, and there should be more south-west wind swell on tap as a cold front approaches for Thursday night. Surf looks smaller Friday afternoon and through the weekend.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through Wednesday. A warm front will lift through the area Wednesday night and early Thursday, followed by a cold front late Thursday. High pressure will then prevail through the weekend

It is warm this morning. It’s 60* with sun. As high pressure builds in, look for temperatures to cool this afternoon to 57* with sun.
