Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 7:30 a.m.
All of our full-suits in the shop are now on sale. Come see if we have something that fits you while the selection is still good.
Surf at Folly this morning running knee-to-thigh high with an occasional waist set at the lower tide this morning.
Winds are from the north-north/east at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and semi-clean with a slight drift down the beach.
Look for winds to drop off some this afternoon, going south at 5 to 10 knots with storms predicted as a warm-front lifts north of our marine area.
We have a low tide at 9:55 a.m., and a high tide will at 3:54 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:04 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft. at 6 seconds in a east/south-east swell with an north-easterly wind-swell reading approximately 1.6 ft. at 4 seconds.
We have fairly small surf today in the knee to thigh high range with semi-choppy conditions with light southerly winds. Smaller surf continues Wednesday, but winds will shift north/north-east on Wednesday afternoon after a cold front passage and surf should begin to build over-night Wednesday. Late week sees a low pressure system pass off-shore, and we’ll have strong north-east winds and bigger north-east wind swell sweeping down the beach for Thursday, Friday and into the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A warm front will lift north through the area today, before a cold front pushes through on Wednesday. Colder high pressure will then build in from the northwest through the end of the week as low pressure passes offshore Thursday into Friday. High pressure will prevail over the weekend, before another storm system impacts the area early next week.”
It’s 57* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 68* and we see a steady rain begin this afternoon.
Water temperature is 58*.
Sunrise is at 7 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:07 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
