Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 2 at 8:30 a.m.
After a decent day of waves yesterday, surf this morning is knee high in a long-period east/north-east ground swell.
Winds are north-west at 10 to 15 knots. Surf zone is clean, waves are weak and textured.
Look for winds to remain north-west with gusty conditions this afternoon. Winds blow north-west at 15 to 20 with gusts to 25 knots today, and surf should stay clean but textured all day with winds straight offshore.
High tide is at 10:57 a.m., and low tide is at 5:15 p.m.
The virtual buoy is reading 1.2 ft at 12 seconds in a long period east/north-east ground-swell. This swell is passing by our beaches.
Surf looks smaller into mid-week as high pressure sets up over our marine area with winds blowing swell to the Caribbean, but we should see another south wind swell as a cold front approaches Friday, bring some bigger, choppy south-west wind waves. This fades quicky on Saturday, and we see small waves for your Super Bowl Sunday. Surf should pick up again in south swell as a low forms off-shore to start the work week, but we’ll keep you posted.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Strong offshore flow will prevail in the wake of yesterday’s cold front. The hazardous marine conditions will continue into Wednesday before improving as high pressure builds into the area. Another cold front could bring gusty winds and rough seas to the waters Friday.”
It is 40* with sun this morning. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 50* and plentiful sun today.
Water temperature is 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:53 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
