Semi-choppy

Time of Report: 8:45 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-Thigh+
Traffic: None
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Tuesday, Feb 20th at 8:45  a.m.  Happy 21st Birthday Caroline!!

Our 4/3 wetsuits are on sale. It’s still 4/3 weather, and you’ll need one when it gets cold next year, and we still have a good selection of O’Neill Technobutter 4/3 suits in the shop. Come check them out.

Waves at the washout are better than the past few days, but still pretty small with the dropping tide. It’s about thigh high and somewhat clean. Check for incoming tide, maybe something to surf if you feel the need.

Winds are north/north-east at 10 knots this morning. Winds will switch out of the east/north-east through the day at 10 knots, and surf should be semi-choppy this afternoon.

Low tide is 11:09 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:11 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period east. A little swell is trying to sneak in.

If the winds stay somewhat light throughout the day, there may be a little something on the incoming tide. Most of the swell is passing us by, but every now and again something is getting through. Winds go west/south-west Thursday into Friday ahead of a frontal boundary, pushing up south-west winds and short-period, south-west wind swell for late week of the choppy variety, but there could be some size. Hopefully this swell will clean up before it gets dark on Friday, but it’ll drop fast after the frontal passage. High pressure sets up next weekend, and we’ll see smaller surf.

Water temp is around 55*.

The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Thursday, with a cold front passing through the area Friday. High pressure will return to the region this weekend and prevail into early next week.”

It’s 48* and blue skies this morning. Look for a high of 58* and sunny. Nice day at the beach for stroll during the mid day low tide.

Sunrise is 6:58 a.m., Sunset 6:08 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
