Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Washout this morning are thigh to waist high with a stomach sets and should build some on the incoming tide. It looks fun out there this morning, but it’s very foggy.
Winds are east/north-east at 5 to 10 knots, and surf-zone is bumpy, but not too choppy.
Look for south winds at 5 to 10, increasing 10 to 15 this afternoon. Surf should be choppy as the tide goes out later this afternoon.
Tide is coming in, and high tide will be at 12:36 p,m. The next low tide will be at 6:53 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 7 sec. in dominant south-easterly wind swell with medium period.
Still some fun surf out there on the incoming tide early this morning, but the south wind should pick up some late morning and into afternoon, chopping up the surf. There could be some leftovers with off-shore conditions early Wednesday morning after a cold front passage over-night. Surf should go smaller Wednesday afternoon, before another storm system effects our surf Friday, building another choppy south wind swell. We look to have medium-period, lazy south-east swell over the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A warm front will lift north this morning, then a cold front will cross through the area this evening. High pressure is forecasted to prevail for the middle of the week, before a series of storm systems bring impacts late in the week into early next week.”
It’s 59* with dense fog this morning. Look for a high of 67* with fog today.
Water temperature is around 57*, according to un-named sources at the DNR.
Sunrise is around 7:04 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:02 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
