Good morning this is Bates with you Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 21 at 8:30 a.m.
We still have 4/3 and 3/2 wetsuits on sale, so come scoop them up.
Surf at Folly this morning is thigh-to-waist high with stomach-high sets in a short-period south-west wind swell.
The winds are kind of into it from a side-shore direction from the west/south-west at 10 to 15 knots. Surf zone is semi-clean with a slight drift up the beach. It’s a bit weak at the higher tide, but looks kind of fun.
We see winds rotate to a more on-shore direction this afternoon, with south-west wind predicted at 15 to 20 knots. Surf zone will be choppy this afternoon, with some drift up the beach.
We have a high tide as of report time, and low tide will be at 2:41 p.m. High tide is at 8:42 tonight.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 7 feet at 7 seconds in a short-period south-west wind swell.
South to south-west wind swell will be the story for your Tuesday, with choppy, rideable waves on tap. This swell is predicted to fade some on Wednesday but should pick up again as a cold front approaches for Thursday, and south/south-west winds increase. Friday, we could see a quick clean-up as a cold front moves into the area, and winds come more off-shore at some point, likely Friday morning. The weather is warm, and there’s some surf to ride, so get on it, even if it’s not the perfect swell. Swell goes high angled north-east for the weekend after the cold front passage on Friday.
The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will expand over the area through Thursday, before a cold front moves through on Friday. Another cold front could approach early next week.
It’s a warn 64* and overcast this morning. Look for a high of 69* today and clouds mixed with sun.
Water temperature is 59*.
Sunrise is at 7:02 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:05 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
