Traffic: Some.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Bates with you Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 28 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set in a south-west wind wave.  There is some drift up the beach, and the waves are closing out at the lower tide, but it should get better form late morning with the tide push.

Winds are west/south-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and semi-choppy.

We continue to see side-shore winds today from the west/south-west at 15 to 20, and surf zone should be semi-choppy today with a drift up the beach increasing as the day wears on.

We have a low tide at report time, high tide will fill in at 2:23 p.m. The next low tide is at 8:30 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 7 feet at 7 seconds in a mix of medium period south-west swell and a shorter period south/south-west swell.

South-west wind swell builds today ahead of a cold front before cleaning up and rapidly dropping this afternoon. Keep an eye on the flags to see when the wind will switch. Surf then will stay small through mid-week. We’ll be watching  strong low that looks to develop on Friday and produce a more significant south/south-west wind swell our way with a cleanup on Saturday morning. We will keep you in da loop!

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A surface front will linger across the forecast area through tonight. High pressure will gradually build over the region through mid week before a strong cold front is expected to affect the area late week.”

It’s 70* and sunny mixed with fog at the beach. Look for a high of 72* with clouds mixed with sunshine.

Water temperature is up to 64*.

The days are getting longer. Sunrise is at 6:48 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:16 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
