Gale Force Winds

Time of Report: 8:15 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Head-Overhead
Traffic: None
Parking: Plenty
Dangers: High Winds/Storms

Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Tuesday, January 9th at 8:15 a.m.

Victory at Sea has begun.

Currently winds are south/south-east at 28 mph. Winds forecasted to reach 36 mph at of the south with gust up to 55 mph. Expect heavy rains and strong winds this afternoon.

Low tide is at 12:07 p.m. High tide is at 5:55 p.m.  Watch for local flooding as high tide approaches

The Edisto buoy is currently reading 12.1 ft at 8 seconds from the south-east. This will continue to increase throughout the day.

Surf is a washing machine and will stay that way all day. Unfortunately winds to look to turn westerly overnight tonight and blow pretty hard, so again hopefully we have some leftover swell on Wednesday morning.  Doesn’t get super clean as wind stays a little more side shore.

NOAA Forecast: “strong storm system will impact the region today into tonight. High pressure will briefly return for mid week, before the next system arrives Friday. High pressure should rebuild later in the weekend.”

Current water temp: 58*.

It’s 64* this morning and windy with a high of 70*.

Sunrise is 7:22 a.m., Sunset 5:30 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
