Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 18 at 8:30 a.m.
We will be closed on Today and Wednesday of this week. We are transferring over to a new point of sale system. So sorry about the inconvenience. It’ll be cold and flat anyway, and we appreciate your patience.
Surf at The Washout this morning is as flat as (insert your own colloquialism here.)
Winds are light off-shore from the west/north-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Look for north-west winds to abate at 5 to 10 knots, then go variable late day. Surf zone stays clean and small for your Tuesday.
Tide is super high around 8 a.m. this morning. We have a low tide at 2:12 p.m. We have a high tide at 8:16 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4 ft at 5 seconds in a westerly swell blowing all the swell well away from our beaches.
Surf is looking small for the next few days as offshore flow continues. Friday, we see increasing east/north-east swell with a high angle on it as a low develops off-shore and begins to track north-east for the weekend. There should be plenty of medium-sized north-east wind waves mixed with easterly swell for the weekend, but the weather and the quality of the surf won’t be great.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Cold high pressure will prevail today, then move offshore Wednesday. A cold front will move through Thursday evening, then stall off the coast. Low pressure will develop along the front Friday then move northeast Friday night and Saturday. Dry high pressure will then build in from the west.”
It’s a balmy 34* today here at Folly. Look for a nice day with a high of 50* and sun all day.
Water Temperature has gone down. It’s hovering around 52*. It’s mid-January.
Sunrise is at 7:21 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:39 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
