Semi-choppy.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat.
Traffic: Not too bad.
Parking: Not at the pier, but everywhere else, there is a lot.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 24 at 9 a.m.

The pier will be closed for a few weeks while crews re-do the parking lot on site.

Surf at Folly this morning is flat.

Winds are north-east at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is semi-choppy.

We see winds rotate north-east at 5 to 10, then east this afternoon. There will be slight surface chop on the surf later today.

Tide is incoming with a high at 9:50 a.m. low tide this afternoon at 3:55 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 4 seconds in a short period, north-east wind swell.

Wednesday, we expect a upper level low pressure system to strengthen and emerge out of the Gulf of Mexico and interact with our marine area. Look for rapidly building surf on Wednesday into the chest- head high range with a lot of south winds on it. Unfortunately models currently suggesting having the winds switch around overnight on Wednesday night potentially knocking the surf down a bit overnight. Regardless this swell should have enough fetch and strength to provide some surf leftover on Thursday morning, but the westerly winds will be strong and gusty, Hopefully it doesn’t blow out the clean up on Thursday. Surf

The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: High pressure will remain in control of our weather today before another frontal system impacts the region midweek. Thereafter, high pressure returns for late week and into the weekend.”

It’s 46* and sunny. Look for a high of 56* and sun today.

Water temperature, it’s 55*.

Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:44 p.m.
