Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 25 at 8:30 a.m.
We received another batch of Catch Surf soft-boards and bodyboards. We also now have some Vissla wetsuits in stock. Come check it out.
Surf at The Washout this morning is flat. Maybe knee high.
Winds are light from the west, and surf zone is clean. We see westerly winds at 10 knots today, and surf zone will be side-shore and semi-clean all day.
Look for north-west wind today. These winds should abate by early afternoon, and we see a clean surf zone today, with small waves. Wind will switch south-west late day.
We are coming off a low tide this morning. High tide is at 12:49 a.m., and low tide will be at 7:09 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 ft. at 11 seconds in a long-period east/south-east swell, but this is pushing against some westerly wind swell.
With the continued off-shore flow, we see small surf for today into Wednesday as surf looks small to start the work week. The next chance for meaningful surf looks to be mid-week as low pressure crosses the Florida Peninsula today to our south and slides near our marine area. Winds become strong north-easterly and kick up some drifty north-east wind swell building late day Wednesday increasing Thursday. This should clean up and drop quickly with a cold north wind on Friday. We see strong off-shore flow as high pressure sets up for the weekend, and surf looks to stay small Saturday and Sunday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Low pressure will pass well south of the area today before a cold air mass builds into the region for Wednesday and Thursday. Another low pressure system could bring unsettled weather to the area Friday into Friday night. High pressure will return over the weekend.”
It’s 50* at Folly Beach this morning. It’s cloudy with a few showers. Look for a high of 55* and cloudy skies this afternoon.
Water Temperature has gone down. It’s hovering around 50*. Brrrrrr.
Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:45 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
