Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 26 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is thigh-to-waist. There is an occasional stomach high set.
Winds are south-west at 15 knots, surf is side-shore and semi-choppy. It’s weak and a bit crossed up.
Look for moderate south-westerly winds today at 10 to 15 knots all day. Conditions should remain crossed up and semi-choppy.
We are coming off a high tide just before dawn. We have a low tide at 12:14 a.m., and a high tide will be at 6:16 p.m.
The virtual buoy is reading 4.4 ft. at 6 seconds in a short-period south wind swell.
There is some surf in the water today for the first time in a while as a storm system effects our marine area today into Wednesday, with winds blowing moderate from the south-west this afternoon adding some surface chop. Surf could clean up some for Wednesday morning at the early high tide as surf begins to fall off for your Wednesday. There is also a low that is forecast to form east of the mid-Atlantic states late in the work week. This should push up a significant north-easterly ground swell, but most of the swell will pass by Folly. Points south in Florida that like north-east swell should pick up significantly late week and into the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A storm system will impact the region today into Wednesday, before a strong cold front pushes offshore Wednesday night. High pressure will return late week, followed by another cold front early next week.”
It is 62* with clouds and for at the beach. Look for a high of 66* with mostly cloudy skies and a 30% chance for a shower.
Water temperature is 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:17 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:45 p.m.
