Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 3 at 8:30 a.m.
Sorry for the late report. Super foggy out here and was trying to wait on the fog to lift.
Waves at the Washout this morning are knee-high and very clean. There is a rare thigh set, but it’s closing out as the tide gets low. Best bet might be incoming early afternoon for a log session.
Winds are light and variable this morning.
Look for winds to remain light and variable this morning, going south at 10 to 12 knots this afternoon. Look for slight surface chop on small surf this afternoon.
Low tide this morning is at 10:47 a.m. High tide will be at 4:41 pm.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft at 8 seconds in a medium period, east/south-east swell.
Some lingering south-east swell is out there if you need to get on the longboard today. Mid-week look for a cold front approaching our marine area building a south/south-west wind-swell that will peak overnight on Wednesday and clean up for Thursday morning before fading out. Late work week looks small to flat, and this trend will carry into the weekend, so get it mid-week if you can.
Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will remain the primary feature across the region through today. A cold front will advance into the area Wednesday and move offshore through Thursday morning. High pressure will then prevail into the weekend.”
Its very foggy at Folly this morning. It’s 55*. Look for the fog to burn off this afternoon, and we see a high of 63* with sun and clouds mixed.
Water temperature went way down over the past few days. It’s 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
