Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 5 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is flat-to-knee high on the incoming tide this morning.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and weak.
Look for winds to increase westerly today at 15 knots with a higher gust. Surf should be small and semi-choppy for your afternoon.
We have a high-tide at 12:08 p.m., and a low tide at 6:33 p.m.
Virtual buoy data is reading 1 ft. at 7 seconds in a small, medium period-period easterly swell.
Not much swell at the buoy, and not many waves at the beach this morning. After a good south swell over the first few days of the New Year, surf looks small for the majority of the work week. There is a possibility of increasing surf on Friday as a low-pressure system crosses our marine area, but swell will be short-lived as winds go westerly starting some-time Friday morning and into Saturday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will remain over the area through the middle of the week. A low pressure system will shift across the area Thursday into Friday, followed by another low pressure system early next week.”
It is a 49* and cloudy this morning. Look for decreasing clouds this morning, and a high of 60* with sun this afternoon.
Water temperature has bumped back up to 57*.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:26 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
