Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, July 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Sorry for not having pictures this morning. We had a camera malfunction, but we’ll get it fixed.
Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high and semi-choppy this morning. It’s bit weak at the higher tide, but it’s rideable on a high volume board.
Winds are south-west at 10 knots.
We are expecting winds to rotate south and increase 15 to 20 mid-afternoon.
Tide is now going out. Low tide is at 1 p.m. and high tide will be at 7:41 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.
Look for small south swell to continue today in the knee-to-thigh high range. South winds pick up this afternoon and keep things choppy as a frontal boundary stalls over our marine area. Waves should pick up again Wednesday into Thursday, as another front approaches. We’re probably looking at the same low quality, short-period south-west wind swell we normally see this time of year, but it should build in size with choppy conditions expected. We could see a more significant swell Sunday into early next week as low pressure from the GOMEX passes near our marine area and high-pressure sets up well off the Mid-Atlantic states, pushing in some swell.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A stationary front will remain over or near the area today while dissipating. High pressure will then build in briefly before another front moves in late this week and lingers into early next week.”
It’s 81* and cloudy with light showers this morning. Look for a high of 85* with clouds and sun trying to peak out today. There should be some rain and thunderstorms on-and-off.
Water Temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:21 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:29 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
