Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, July 18 at 8:30 a.m.
Coming to you from the Washout, waves this morning are knee-high with thigh sets.
Winds are west at around 5 knots – light side-shore – and waves are clean and small at the higher tide this morning.
Winds are forecast to be light and variable today, so surf-zone should stay clean overall for your Tuesday.
We are coming off a high tide as of 9 a.m. this morning. Low tide will be at 2:51 p.m., and the next high tide will be at 9:19 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 11 seconds in a long period easterly/south-easterly swell.
Waves are rideable on the log this morning, and are nice and clean. We suspect it’ll get small on the lower tide this afternoon, but should stay fairly clean .Tropical Storm Don is gonna’ loop out to sea. Likely without producing waves for us. Waves are looking pretty small for mid-week, but we should see strong south-west winds late week ahead of a front. This could push up a little choppy, small swell for late in the week and into Saturday. There are a few blobs of low pressure forecast to come off the coast of Africa this week, but nothing set in stone as of now. Just hot as hell.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A surface trough will persist inland through midweek, while Atlantic high pressure holds offshore. A cold front could impact the region this weekend.”
Water temperature is around 85*.
It’s 83* and sunny this morning. Expect sunny and hot today with a high of 88* and a heat index around 104* Stay hydrated!
Sunrise is at 6:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:28 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
