Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, July 27 at 8:30 a .m.
Surf at the Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high. There is a slightly larger set.
Winds are south this morning at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is bumpy and kind of soft, but there are some “cleanish” sections. It still looks pretty fun if you need to get wet.
Look for south winds to increase 10 to 15 knots this afternoon, and we see choppier surf later this afternoon.
We have a high tide at 11:10 a.m. Low tide will be at 5:11 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 5 seconds in an south/south-west wind swell.
There is still some rideable surf in the water this morning. Probably best for the high-volume board. We continue to see south to south-west wind swell at the beach through Wednesday. Not too big, but likely still rideable on the right gear. The tropical low that produced the swell for the past few days moved on-shore overnight, and continues to bring onshore flow to our marine area into Wednesday. Conditions will be bumpy and semi-choppy overall as winds trend west to south-west over the next few days. Surf drops off Thursday and Friday, then we see small south-west wind swell fill in for the weekend.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Weak low pressure will drift north along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts today, resulting in unsettled conditions. A trough will then bring more unsettled weather on Wednesday. Drier conditions are expected Thursday and Friday, followed by a return to a wet weather pattern next weekend.”
It’s mostly cloudy and 81* this morning. Expect thunderstorms and shower late morning. Look for some rain-showers on and off this afternoon and a high of 84* with high humidity.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:30 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:21 p.m.
