TUESDAY JULY 5

Semi-Choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Thigh
Traffic: Moderate
Parking: Plenty
Dangers: None

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for July 5 at 8:30 a.m.

We hope that everyone had a great 4th of July holiday.

Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high as the tide comes in this morning.  There is a waist high set and it doesn’t look too bad. Not great, but rideable. May get a little push with the incoming tide if the wind doesn’t pick up too much.

Winds are south-west at 6 knots, and surf-zone is side-shore with a slot chop on it.

We are expecting winds to be from the south around 5-10 knots today.

Low tide was 6:37 a.m. High tide is at 12:09 p.m. and with the next low tide  at 6:54 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 feet at 4.2 seconds in a short-period south/south-west wind swell, with a south-easterly long-period swell 2.6 ft. at 9 seconds.

Looks like a small southerly trade-wind swell will continue during the first part of the work week, averaging knee-to-thigh high with south-west winds keeping things bumpy. This will increase late in the work-week as a frontal boundary approaches and south-west wind begin to pick up Thursday and Friday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region this week before a front shifts through the area late weekend and stalls south of the region. High pressure should then prevail early next week.”

It’s 83* and sunny this morning. We see a high of 85* with a slight breeze throughout the day.

Water Temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
