Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, July 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high. There is a rare bigger set in a continued small, semi-clean ground swell. It is closing out at the lower tide, but it looks like some fun little waves out there again this morning.

Winds are north/north-east at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and semi-clean.

Look for south-east winds this afternoon at 10 knots, and we see a semi-choppy, bumpy surf zone later today with waves averaging thigh-to-waist high.

We have a low tide at 11:03 a.m., and a high tide at 5:36 p.m.

We continue to see a small, fun south “trade-wind-style” swell today averaging thigh-to-waist high with some bump in it this afternoon as the winds come south-east at 10 to 12 knots. This trend looks to continue into Tuesday, before Tropical Storm Elsa that looks to take a path up the Florida Peninsula and into our marine area. This will likely bring us a big, choppy, windy/ wind-chop swell Wednesday into Thursday. This will be a windy swell event as the storm approaches from our south-west. Not looking like a clean hurricane swell. Choppy south-west wind swell in the waist high range follows the storm as it departs Friday.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Tropical Storm Elsa will bring impacts to the region Wednesday into Thursday. An unsettled weather pattern will persist from the end of this week through early next week. Refer to the latest advisory on Elsa issued by the National Hurricane Center.”

It’s cloudy and 78* this morning. Look for sun mixed with clouds and a high of 82* today with a 25% chance of rain.

Water temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:17 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
