Tuesday, July 7

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, July 7 at 9 a.m.

Surf at the pier is knee to thigh high in semi-choppy south-west wind swell. Typical summer conditions. Like a hairdryer blowing up wind-chop in a warm bathtub.

It’s rideable. Around knee-to-thigh high. Bring the longboard and low expectations, and it might be kind of fun.

Winds are south-west at 10 to 15, and expected to almost gust to 20 today. Surf will be side-shore and choppy, and could build some this afternoon in drifty, choppy conditions.

Tide is now coming in, with a high tide at 1:45 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:02 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 feet ft at 5 seconds in a south-west wind swell, which should build some today into Wednesday.

We have typical south-west wind waves in the water for the foreseeable future. It’ll likely pick up this afternoon and Wednesday, but conditions will mostly be choppy and drifty, with perhaps a break in the wind as the sun comes up. This trend continues all through the weekend as high pressure controls our weather and sits south of our beaches. Keeping things scorching hot and waves rideable but with poor conditions.

Our pals at NOAA predict, “High pressure will persist over the region through this week.”

It’s a humid 85* with sunshine this morning and a high of 88* and a heat index close to 98* at the beach. It’s much hotter in town.

Water temperature It’s around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:18 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:32 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
