Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, June 2 at 8:30 a.m.

Welcome to the second day of the official 2020 hurricane season. We already have two tropical storms under our belt. So lets hope for more surf and less destruction. As if 2020 could get any crazier.

We will be open from 9:15 a.m. until 6 p.m. Please follow social distancing protocols when shopping.

Waves at Folly this morning are knee-thigh high with a waist high set. It looks Ok for the longboard. It is weak and kind of choppy.

Winds are south-east at 5 to 8 knots, putting some bump in the surf zone.

Winds are forecasted south-easterly today at 10 to 15 knots by afternoon, and choppy, short period south wind-swell should average around thigh-high later today.

Low tide is this morning is at 11:27 a.m. and high follows at 6 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 8 seconds in a ESE swell.

We see typical south/south-west wind swell fill in this afternoon into Wednesday, averaging thigh high with a plus set under mostly choppy conditions. The surf in our area does look to be small and choppy from the south most of the work week. Long term models are still showing a decent low develop in the Gulf of Mexico late week and perhaps becoming a hurricane. The National Hurricane Center has already deemed this “Tropical Depression Three” as it moves north. This could bring some choppy on-shore flow for the weekend depending on the storm’s track, but we’ll have to keep an eye on the progressive development of the low, and it’s forecast track.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will remain offshore through late week, while a trough of low pressure settles inland. A cold front will approach the region over the weekend and could linger in the vicinity into early next week.

It’s 76*, cool and sunny. It’s a beautiful morning. Look for a high of 80* today and very nice beach weather.

Water temperature is around 78*.  Back to boardies and bikinis.

Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:24 p.m.
