Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, June 19 at 8 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is flat to knee high.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 knots, and surf is weak and semi-choppy.
Look for winds to clock south-west at 15 knots this afternoon, this should chop up the surf.
We have a low tide as of report time, high tide will be at 2:48 p.m. The next low tide is at 8:43 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3 ft. at 5 seconds in a short period south/south-west wind swell.
We are in the doldrums of summer, with an inland trough to our west, and high pressure to our east, the best we can hope for is small, weak south-west wind swells that clean-up for morning sessions. Surf looks small through the weekend. We could see some SMALL easterly wind swell early next week as a cold front pushes towards our area. Hopefully we will see some break in this weather pattern or some sort of near shore tropical activity. But until then, we don’t expect much surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “The region will remain situated between Atlantic high pressure and an inland trough of low pressure until later this week. The trough of low pressure will then settle over the region and will persist into early next week. A cold front could push into the region by the middle of next week.”
We have a heat advisory in effect today. It is 81* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 90* with hot sunshine today.
Water temperature is up to 84*.
Sunset is at 8:30 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:11 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
