Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, June 6 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a shipment of Solid Surfboards. Great grovlers and mini-Simmons styles. Gary Wilson also just dropped off about 20 boards, so come on in and blow some of that graduation money your parents said you should save for college.
Looks like we are getting some bright white paint into the crosswalks at Folly. Maybe people will be able to find and use them easier, now. Your parking ticket money at work!
Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high but it’s breaking right up on the beach at the pier. You’ll probably want to bring a log for today. Good news is, surf should pick up for tomorrow.
We have a high tide at 10:12 p.m., and low tide will be at 4:12 pm. The next high tide is at 10:52 p.m. We continue to see big tide swings as the full moon begins to wane.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period easterly swell.
Looks like we will get some decent, choppy south/south-west swell through the middle part of the work week, with the surf zone cleaning up and surf size beginning to drop Thursday morning on the incoming tide. Friday and into the weekend, high pressure will set up, making for less wind and small surf. Get on it mid-week if you can. We should see south-west wind swell pick up some to start your work week, but not a lot of long-period swell action in the forecast. Welcome to summer surf at Folly Beach.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will shift offshore through tonight as a trough of low pressure lingers inland. A cold front is expected to approach from the north mid-week, then move slowly south across the area through Friday. High pressure will return for the weekend.
Water temperature is around 77*.
Its 72* with partly cloudy skies. Look for a high of around 80* with sun and some passing clouds. There is a slight chance for a thunderstorm/shower this afternoon.
Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:25 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
