Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, June 7 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high. There looks to be a waist set as the tide pushes in. It’s shutting down at the lower tide (at The Washout), but might get better later this morning. Best for the high-volume board.
Winds have finally slacked some. It’s north/north-east at about 5 knots. Surf is finally cleaner, without much drift.
Look for north-east winds at 10 to 12 knots eventually clocking south-east at 10 knots this afternoon, and surf will see some bump and a little chop in it later today.
We just had a low tide around 8 a.m. Tide is coming in. High tide will be at 2:24 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:22 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period easterly swell, a lot of which is passing south of our beaches.
Tropical storm Alex moves out to sea, leaving us with high-angled easterly swell and waves averaging thigh high. We see south-west winds for mid-to-late week, and a typical summer weather pattern with choppy south-west wind swell in the forecast for mid-to-late week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A stationary front will linger nearby through today. A trough of low pressure will develop inland on Wednesday ahead of an approaching cold front. The front will likely stall in the vicinity late week, before another front arrives over the weekend.”
It’s 78* and sunny. Look for a high of 83* with a slight chance for thunderstorms later today.
Water Temperature is around 80*.
