Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, June 9 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at Folly this morning are knee-high. Occasionally thigh-high. Not quite the push it had yesterday. It is soft at the morning’s high tide in a south wind swell, but looks fun for the long-board.
Winds are light and variable, and surf zone is a bit textured, but overall very clean.
Winds are forecast south-easterly at 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. This should build small, weak choppy south-choppy wind waves.
We have a high tide at 11:25 a.m., and a low tide at 5:21 p.m. Tide will be coming in until after dark.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium-period, east/south-east swell.
A cold-front approaches and lingers in our marine area early in the work week. We should see pretty small south wind waves to start the work week, and this trend should continue all week long. We could see an uptick in size as a cold front stalls over our area on Thursday, with increasing south winds. Unfortunately it’s looking like small, long-board style waves with a light southerly flow for most of the work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak trough will linger over the area through Wednesday. A cold front will then stall over the area Thursday into the weekend. Another cold front will approach the area early next week.
It’s 80* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 82* today with sun and some clouds with a slight chance of a shower all day.
Water temperature is around 79*.
Sunrise is at 6:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:25 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
