Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, March 15 at The Washout.

We will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for spring hours with the time change. Back to long, lazy afternoon sessions.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high. It’s likely rideable on the log if you need to get wet.

Winds are out of the north/north-east at 5 knots, and the surf zone is fairly clean. It’s a bit weak at the higher tide.

Look for easterly winds at 10 to 15 this afternoon, and this should add some chop to small surf.

Tide is going out. Low tide is at 12:50 p.m., and high tide will be at 7 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 10 seconds in a long period, south-east swell.

Today is pretty small, but another storm system will kick up more east/south-east wind swell increasing significantly Wednesday as a low pressure system moves into our marine area. There will be some high-angled easterly wind on it Wednesday, so look for some drift and chop. But hopefully the surf-zone will clean up some Thursday as winds are forecast to be westerly. Winds come south-west Friday and Saturday, and we see short-period south-west wind swell fill in.. Look for a quick clean-up Sunday morning after a cold front passage Saturday night. Surf will likely fall off Sunday but hope for some cleaner leftovers on Sunday morning.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail until a low pressure system moves through Wednesday into early Thursday. Another cold front will move through late in the week with high pressure returning early next week.”

It’s 55* and sunny this morning. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 66* and sun with clouds moving in late day.

Water Temperature is 61*.

Sunrise is at 7:29 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:27 p.m.  Enjoy the extra hour of sunlight.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
