Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, March 23 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high as the tide rolls out. It’s closing out at the lower tide, and doesn’t look super impressive, early. It’ll likely get better form for a longboard glide as the tide comes in late-morning.

Winds are north at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is side-shore, kind of drifty, and semi-clean.

Look for winds to fall out some from the north this afternoon at 5 to 10 knots. Surf zone will likely stay fairly clean today.

We have a low tide at 10:14 a.m., and a high tide at 4:20 p.m. The next low tide at 10:19 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 5.5 ft. at 9 seconds in a high-angled, medium-period east, north-east swell.

There are a few semi-clean longboard waves for today in a high angled east/north-east swell, but nothing too big. Surf should fade out late day. Weak high-pressure is over our marine area as a low-pressure system moves north of the waters. Surf size looks to fall out some for Wednesday into Thursday in the knee-to-thigh high range. Surf looks to pick up in a pre-frontal wind swell on Friday as a cold front approaches our marine area and choppy wind swell increases. Surf looks to fall off some for the weekend after the cold front passage.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Weak high pressure will persist through mid week as low pressure well offshore moves to the north. A cold front could impact the region late in the week.”

It is currently 57* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 65* with clouds this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 60*.

Sunrise is at 7:17 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:33 p.m.
