Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, March 8 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high with chest sets. Maybe bigger, occasionally. Looks like some fun ground swell out here this morning. It is a little chunky at mid-tide, overall looking pretty fun.
Winds are slack this morning, and surf zone is clean.
Look for winds to stay out of the NW at 5-10 knots this morning rotating to the NE at 15 knots in the afternoon. We see bumpy, semi-clean ground swell in the water this morning, with some chop after mid day. Should be some surf all day.
Low tide was at 5:43 a.m., and high tide will be at 11:48 a.m.
The Edisto Buoy is showing a south-east swell 4.3 ft at 10 seconds in long-period south-east swell. Plenty of swell at the buoy, so there should be surf all day.
We are still seeing a pretty solid south swell at the beach today, with west to north-west winds this morning and cleaner conditions. North-east winds pick up this afternoon and chop things up some. There should be something to ride the majority of the upcoming work week as a series of fronts brings rain and wind to our marine area into mid-week. We see smaller east swell late in the work week, but still something to ride. It should be a decent week of surf at Folly.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A series of fronts will bring unsettled weather to the area through Saturday morning. Cool and dry high pressure will return late Saturday through Monday.”
It’s 66* with bright sunshine this morning. Look for a high of 73* and partly cloudy all day. It’s really nice at the beach this morning. Watch for possible rain showers in the evening and overnight.
Water Temperature is up to around 62*. It should be on the rise later this week as warm temperatures return.
Sunrise is at 6:38 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:22 p.m.
