Good morning, this isBates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, May 10 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high and looks to push a waist set as the tide comes in. It’s a high-angled north/north-east swell. Not too bad for the high-volume board.

Winds are north/north-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is clean with a slight drift from north to south.

Look for winds to increase from the north at 15 to 20 knots this afternoon. We see a drifty, side-shore surf zone today.

Low tide is at 9:39 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:02 p.m.. The next low tide at 10:01 p.m

The Edisto Buoy is reading 7 feet at 7 seconds in a mix of easterly swell and east/north-east wind swell.

We see strong northerly flow to start the work week. This will send in high angled north-east wind swell, and most swell will pass our beaches, but there might be a drifty longboard wave out there through Friday. We see changes late week when low pressure is predicted to form to our north-east, off the mid-Atlantic states, with blocking high pressure to the north. We could potentially see fun surf Saturday through Monday as the swell rotates more on-shore. Something to keep an eye on for sure. We’ll keep you updated.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Dry high pressure will persist through Wednesday. Atlantic low pressure will pass close to the area on Friday, then a weak trough will linger in the vicinity through early next week.”

It’s 60* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 70* with sunshine today. We have perfect spring beach weather.

Water Temperature is has dropped to 72*.

Sunrise is at 6:24 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:08 p.m.
