Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, May 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high. Maybe slightly larger. Looks like a lot of the choppy, south wind swell we had yesterday faded out pretty quickly overnight.

Winds are west/north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean and weaker at the high tide. There is a decent longboard glide if you want to get wet.

Look for winds to pick up from the south-east late day at 10 knots. Surf-zone should stay fairly clean today.

We have a high tide at report time, and low tide will be at 2:19 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:42 p.m.

Look for smaller surf this afternoon into tomorrow. Wednesday (tomorrow) afternoon, we see a stalled frontal boundary offshore to our south, and a series of low pressure systems is forecast to advance along the front. With high pressure to the north, we can expect a pretty big east/north-east blow. This should increase drifty, high-angled east/north-east swell into our beaches Thursday through Saturday. With waves averaging waist high and very drifty for the period.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A cold front will advance into the area today then will gradually settle south of the area and stall Wednesday. A series of low pressure areas will track along the stationary front until late week. High pressure will expand into the region this weekend into early next week.”

This morning it is sunny and 73*. Look for a high of 80* with thunderstorms advancing through the area this afternoon.

Water temperature is up to around 73*.

Sunrise is at 6:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:09 p.m.
