Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, May 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf is running knee-thigh+ high. We are coming off a high tide just before sunrise, keeping the waves a little weak. Winds are light out of the east at 4 knots. Winds will shift to the southeast and stay around 5-10 knots throughout the day and then out of the south in the evening.
Low tide is at 11:57 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:23 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 feet at 7 seconds in short period east/south-east wind-swell.
Surf is a little weak this morning, but seems to be a little something in the water. May be a fun wave as a little water moves out before we get to close to low tide. We have a cold front moving through the area into Wednesday night . A weak stationary low looks to develop along the south-east coast mid-week through Friday with some strong north east winds. Saturday may have a period of winds out of the norh for a quick clean up before going back to north-east. Its hard to say where the center of this low will develop. Models are not agreeing. Its something to keep our eyes on as we could get some surf out of this system if its positioned far enough south. We will keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will move through the region Wednesday into Wednesday night as high pressure builds south into the Southeast States. The high will weaken through the weekend as another cold front approaches.
Its 75* and sunny this morning. Look for sunshine today with a high of 76*
Water temperature is 75*.
Sunrise is at 6:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:12 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
