Wave Forecast: Knee-Thigh
Traffic: none

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, May 3 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high with a rare waist-high set every now and then.

Winds are south/south-west at 9 knots and surf is side-shore and bumpy. Probably best for the high volume board.

Look for winds to increase late morning from the south-west at 10 to 15 knots. It will gust to 20 knots late afternoon.  We see choppy, side-shore surf this afternoon.

High tide will be at 10:20 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:08 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:30 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.0 feet at 6 seconds in a short period, mixed south/south-east wind swell.

We will likely see a continued small south wind swell/ground swell for today averaging knee-to-thigh high (plus/minus) with beautiful beach weather on tap. There should be lazy, small trade-wind swell this week as high pressure sets up and keeps moderate on-shore flow in the forecast for the majority of the work week. Nothing too big, but perhaps some longboard surf and nice weather.  A cold-front approaches late in the work week and surf should increase in choppy south-west wind swell late Thursday into Friday. This holds Saturday morning, and surf falls off Sunday after a cold front passage.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Atlantic High pressure will generally prevail through the middle of the week, forcing storms and fronts to our north. A cold front will move through the region this weekend, before high pressure returns early next week.”

It’s 75* with sun this morning. Look for the perfect beach day with a high of 77* and sun with passing clouds.

Water Temperature is around 73*.

Sunrise is at 6:30 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:03 p.m.
