Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, November 21 at 8:30 a.m.
Hoping everyone gets a little break for the holiday work week. We will close at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve, and be closed Thanksgiving Day. We will resume normal winter hours on Friday, November 25.
Also, water is cooling off quickly after these cold mornings. Come get your wetsuits and accessories before they are gone.
Waves at Folly today are averaging thigh to waist high. Maybe slightly larger.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 knots pretty steady. Surf is side-shore, drifty and semi-clean.
We see winds switch more north-east today at 10 to 12 knots, and surf should be semi-choppy this afternoon.
We had a high tide around daybreak, and low tide will be at 12:20 p.m. The next high tide is at 6:13 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.2 feet at 6 seconds in a short period and building easterly wind swell.
There looks to be a swell building today and into the Thanksgiving holiday as a series of disturbances passes off of our marine area associated with a low coming out of the GOMEX. This will make for some rideable swell into the middle and latter part of your Thanksgiving holiday. This swell rotates more north-east late week. With winds trending moderate from the north/north-east for Wednesday, keep an eye on it for some decent waves, but likely still some drift as north/north-east winds should blow at a pretty good clip with high pressure to our north and east.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will persist to our north through mid week while a series of weak disturbances pass off the Southeast U.S. coast. The weather becomes unsettled for the second half of this week, with a strong cold front expected during the weekend.”
It’s a 56* with clouds this morning. Look for clouds today with a chance for a shower and a high of 61*.
Water temperature is dropping off. It’s running around 60*
Sunrise is at 6:53 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:16 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
