Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, October 11 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are thigh-to-waist high. There is an inconsistent stomach high set. Looks kind of fun for the high-volume board.
Winds are north/north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and semi-choppy. There is a drift down the beach, north-to-south.
We see winds continue north-east at 10 to 15 knots today gusting up to 20 this afternoon. Surf should be choppy today.
We have a high tide at 9:27 a.m., and a low tide will be at 3:44 p.m. The next high tide at 9:51 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 7 feet at 8 seconds in an easterly wind swell.
We look for high-angled east/north-east wind waves building a bit today with side-shore, semi-choppy conditions and a drift down the beach. This wind swell will build and rotate easterly/south-east for Wednesday, with continued north-east flow. This easterly swell rotates more on-shore Thursday as a cold front passes through, and we could have a quick clean up Thursday morning on the high tide. Waves look to fall off again Friday and into the weekend as cooler high pressure sets up over our marine aera.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will remain across the region through the first part of the week. A cold front will then swing through the region during the mid to late week”
Water temperature is running around 71*.
It’s 69* with high clouds this morning. Look for clouds today with the sun trying to sneak out and a high of 74*.
Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:51 p.m.
