Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, October 12 at 8:30 a.m.

The Carolina Surf Film Festival will take place at Mex 1 Cantina on Saturday night. Come check it out.

Surf at the Washout is ankle-to-knee high. It’s not very big, but the weather is beautiful. Might want to pull out the fishing rods today.

Winds are north/north-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf zone is textured and clean.

Look for north winds all 10 to 12 knots this morning, going north at 10 to 15 this afternoon. We see a side-shore, clean surf-zone all day.

Tide is just coming in. High tide is at 1:44 p.m., and low tide will be at 7:58 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2 feet at 8 seconds in long period easterly swell. There is also a north-easterly, short period wind swell running past our beaches reading 2 feet at 5 seconds.

We see overall small conditions this week with beautiful beach weather as high pressure sets up over our marine area for the work week. A cold front approaches during the weekend, and could push up some pre-frontal south swell. Tropics are more or less quiet for the period, with a few areas of interest closer to home in the Western Atlantic that aren’t really worth mentioning just yet.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A large area of high pressure will linger over the forecast area through the work week. A cold front will then approach the region next weekend.”

It’s 68 and sunny this morning. Beautiful fishing weather. Look for a high of 77* today and sun and some clouds moving in later today. It’s a perfect fall beach day.

Water temperature is 77*.

Sunrise is at 7:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:50 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
