Good morning this is Bates, with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, October 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is unfortunately flat.
Winds are light from the north-west this morning at around 10 knots, and surf-zone is very clean.
High tide will be at 10 a.m., and low tide will drop out at 4:23 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 at 5 seconds in north short period wind-swell, which is headed away from our beaches.
Surf is flat today this trend should continue into mid-late next as high pressure looks to take control of our general marine area. The good news we may get relief late work week into the weekend. 1st the tropics aren’t dead yet, Tropical Storm Sean has fizzled out in the eastern Atlantic but we have newly formed Invest 94L heading our way and looks more promising. 94L is supposed to go through some phases of strengthening and weaking due to some sheer ahead and its interaction with the eastern Caribbean islands in it’s path. Models have it entering our window into Saturday before it takes a hard turn to the north. 2nd we have a departing low/front approaching on Friday that could give us a quick shot of south wind swell Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. We’ll keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “ Cool and dry high pressure will linger through Thursday, with a cold front is expected to bring impacts to the area late week into early this weekend. High pressure should return early next week.”
Water temperature is around 73*.
It’s chilly this morning. It’s 53* and sunny. Look for sun and a high of 68* and sun today. We have perfect fall beach weather.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:48 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
