Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, October 8 at 8:30 a.m.

The Follypalooza cancer benefit will take place this Saturday. Also, the Carolina Surf Film Festival is coming up next weekend – that’s Friday, October 18 andd Saturday October 19. Tickets and more information available at carolinasurffilmfestival.com.

Surf at The Washout this morning is pushing waist to stomach high. There is a chest high set. It’s closing out a bit at the lower tide. There is still plenty of swell in the water, but it has a bit of an easterly angle to it.

Winds are from north at 10 knots, and surf zone is pretty clean early this morning. It has some drift in it from north-to-south.

We see north-east winds at 10 to 12 knots adding chop this afternoon.

We have a low tide at 10:33 a.m., and a high tide at 5:05 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.9 ft. at 10 seconds in a long period east/south-east ground swell, with a south-east wind-swell – 3.9 ft. at 6.2 seconds.

Plenty of swell still pushing off-shore today, and looks like we’ll have some surf today in the waist to chest high range as the tide comes in. This afternoon, look for choppy surf with a north-east wind with some drift from north-to-south, down the beach. We expect continued north-east winds this week and east/south-east swell of variable quality throughout most of the work week, so there is still surf in the water, but the quality might not be perfect. Go surf this week, because it looks to fall off Friday and into the upcoming weekend.

It’s 71* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 83* and sun behind clouds today.

Water temperature is still 80*, but expect that to drop into the upper-70s in the next 10 days.

Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:59 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
