Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, September 1 at 8:30 a.m.

New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.

Mandatory mask ordinance is in effect for Folly.

Surf at Folly this morning is knee-high. There is a thigh- high set, rarely. Ok for the long-board glide if you need to get wet. It’s a bit soft at the morning’s high tide, perhaps it will get better form as the tide backs out some.

Winds are from the west at 5 knots, and surf is looking pretty clean.

Look for winds from the south-east at 10 knots this afternoon, and surf should get bumpy later today.

We are just coming off a high tide, low tide will be at 1:57 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:26 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 12 seconds in a small, long-period east/south-east swell.

Surf Is knee-to-thigh high range this morning, with an occasional larger set. There is a low moving north-east of our coastline, but it’s not looking to produce much for us as it continues to head north-east through mid-week. Looking ahead we could see some residual swell from as a tropical wave passes through out swell window, and high pressure moves to our east. Look for a bit bigger surf during the end of the work week, but not much to write home about. Also a few areas of interest just came off the north-west African Coast, heading west. We will see if the further develop over the now-very-warm Atlantic.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak trough of low pressure today will be replaced by weak Atlantic high pressure Tuesday through the much of week. A weak cold front could approach the region this weekend, then linger near the area into early next week.”

It’s 80* and mostly sunny. Look for a high of 86 with a 30% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

Water temperature is 86*.

Sunrise is at 6:54 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:43 p.m.
