Tuesday, Sept. 19

Clean. Choppy this afternoon.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee. Occ. thigh.
Traffic: Not bad.
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, September 19 at 8:30 a.m.

As the morning temperatures begin to cool off, come by and check out the wet-suit jackets and spring suits we hav in stock. Come and get’em before they are gone.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-high. There is a thigh set every once in a while.

Winds are light and variable. Surf zone is clean. Best for the longboard this morning.

We see light winds from the north this morning with clean conditions. Winds go easterly this afternoon at 10 to 12 knots and add surface chop to small surf.

We have a high tide at 11 a.m. and low tide is at 5:26 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 11 seconds in a long period east/south-east swell.

Looks like a clean longboard glide in knee-to-thigh high surf this morning with clean conditions. Surf should stay about the same for Wednesday. Surf should begin to pick up Thursday into the weekend as a home-grown low-pressure system develops east of Florida (just to our south) and moves into our marine area Saturday. Winds will be strong north-east Thursday and Friday as swell builds, but hopefully winds will go offshore for Saturday and clean up a fading swell. There is also a disturbance coming off the west coast of Africa, and we’ll monitor this one for swell, but it’s a long way out.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail over the area through much of the week. Coastal low pressure could affect the region late this week into the weekend.”

 Water temperature is around 83*.

It’s 70* and feels great this morning. Look for a high of 81* and sunny skies. Perfect beach weather.

Sunrise is at 7:04 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:25 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
