Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, September 24 at 8:30 a.m.

We have tons of wetsuit tops, jackets and spring-suits for men and women. Come on by and pick one up as the morning air temperatures is starting to cool off some.

Surf at The Washout this morning is in stomach to chest high. There is an occasional shoulder high set. It’s closing out at the morning’s low tide, but should get better as the tide comes in late morning. Another five-star surf day at Folly Beach.

Winds are light from the west, and surf is clean.

Look for south-west winds at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon, and we should see some bump in the ground-swell later today.

We have a low tide at 10:09 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:32 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft. at 10.8 seconds in a long-period south-east ground swell.

Surf looks like it will be fun at Folly today, with waist-to-chest high peelers expected with possible head-high sets as the tide comes in. Groundswell from Tropical Storm Jerry should continue filtering in today. Looking ahead our work week looks active as groundswell arrives and builds from Tropical Storm Jerry early week with lighter winds in the forecast and likely some fun conditions. Mid-week Look for newly named tropical storm Karen to push north over the Virgin Islands into our swell window and reinforce swell from Jerry during the latter part of the week. Also a fresh new wave off Africa has developed into tropical storm Lorenzo, but we’ll wait-and-see if it sends any surf our way. Lots of action in the Atlantic for the next 10 days. Well keep you posted but safe to say well be surfing a lot.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for:
“A weak cold front will move into the area today and then slowly dissipate through mid week.
Slightly cooler and drier high pressure will then return this weekend through early next week.”

We have nice weather this morning. It’s 71* and sunny. Look for a high of 87* and sun today.

Water temperature is 80*.

Sunrise is at 7:09 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:13 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
